Purpose
This page outlines how you can submit a complaint to Safenames about our handling of your personal data. Our data protection complaints procedure reflects our obligations under applicable data protection law, including the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, the UK GDPR, and Data Protection Act 2018.
Scope
A data protection complaint may be made by a data subject who is concerned with our handling of their personal data, or personal data of someone they act on behalf of, and believes we may not have complied with data protection law.
By way of example, a data protection complaint could relate to: the accuracy of personal data, our retention of personal data, international transfers, or our response to data subject access requests, among other aspects.
Note: This procedure is not intended for those wishing to access third-party domain name registration data.
Making a complaint

Please make sure you include your own contact details, and sufficient information relating to your complaint, so that we can work on addressing your concerns as soon as possible. You do not need to reference particular laws or use legal terminology.
If you require this information in an alternative format or need reasonable adjustments to make a complaint, please let us know.
Our process
Once you have submitted a data protection complaint, we will acknowledge it within 30 days.
Please be aware that we may require, where reasonably necessary, the following:
- Proof of identity, such as an ID document;
- Further evidence or information regarding your complaint, and the desired outcome;
- Proof of authority to act on behalf of another, such as a Power of Attorney.
We will begin our investigation without undue delay. During our investigation, we will keep you updated on the progress of your complaint, including explaining the cause for any delays.
Once the investigation is complete, we will notify you of our findings and any remedies we agree to take. This will be accompanied by an explanation for our conclusions.
We also keep appropriate records of your data protection complaint, such as the date upon which your complaint was received, the relevant documents, the outcome, and any other actions we took as a result. We retain this information in accordance with our data retention requirements.
